What to Do with Green Onions – Real Food Basics

Green Onions

Green onions, also called scallions, are one of the green stars of spring! Once they become more mature they form a larger white onion bulb at the bottom and are then called spring onion.

Different ways of eating green onions:

  1. Sliced raw in salads.
  2. Sliced in soups.
  3. With other herbs in salad dressings.
  4. Baked or grilled.
  5. You can freeze sliced up green onion and then add desired amounts in cooking later on.

TIP: Don’t throw away the ends/roots of the green onions. Put them roots down in a glass jar with water, and in a few days they will start growing back!
