More About the Balance36 Coaching Program
“Less Sugar” is the first in a 3-course series that I use at the beginning of my Balance36 health program, called “Foundation of Health Living”. This is the simple, but powerful program I have been working with in Stockholm, Sweden. It’s SO simple because we fix 3 key health problems that broke over the past 150 years.
Sugar – Fix the 600% increased sugar problem.
Omega 3:6 Balance – Fix the 625% difference in omega-3:6 balance.
Stress & Rest – Fix the broken stress/rest cycle.
Let me coach you through the necessary steps to get your health back!
– Emelie Kamp
Feedback from my clients (translated from Swedish)
Sugar cravings
“Saturday Candy” is the norm in Sweden, so it was pretty amazing when one of my clients said:
“I realized Saturday went by, and for the first time in my life I had not thought about sweets all day!” – Anne Lavold
Weight loss
“l’ve already lost 3 kg (6.6 lbs) in the first 2 weeks on the program. What I like most about this health program is that there’s no calorie counting or food weighing, but I get to pick and choose from the food guidelines and enjoy good food every day!” – Gun Karlsson
Inflammation
“I went to the doctor and did not tell him I had changed my diet, and he confirmed to me that the inflammation in my knees is gone. I’ve also lost weight while eating good food, gotten rid of my sugar cravings, and I’m not in pain anymore!” – Inger Magnusson
About our Wellness Coaching & Health Programs
Modern disease is not just sickness, but everything keeping you from 100% wellness!
It’s not just the increase in heart disease, cancer and diabetes. And not just ADHD, autism, depression, FM, MS, auto-immune … the list goes on…
It’s everything that is causing us to live far below what our bodies, minds and lives are capable of.
150 years ago it was not like this. We were not facing the same challenges that our bodies and minds are today. Statistically, it was not like this at all.
Our health coaching is based on a simple, but powerful program we developed in Stockholm, Sweden, with results that have amazed us. It is so simple because we focus on the 3 key health challenges that are dramatically different from just 150 years ago.
- 600% difference in sugar intake.
- 625% difference in omega-3:6 balance.
- Broken stress/rest cycle.
But together we can change that! Getting our bodies back into balance is easier than you think.
1. So much sugar!
Here in Sweden we have gone from around 10 kg (22 lbs) of added sugar per person, per year in the 1850s, to about 60 kg (130 lbs) sugar per person per year! We are eating sugar in amounts that should disgust us.
High blood sugar levels put a stress on many different systems of the body and, as we talked about earlier, these stressors that are the foundation to inflammation in the body.
Cutting down on sugar doesn’t have to be hard. Small changes in the way we eat and even in the order we eat certain foods can do a lot to get rid of the sugar cravings.
Most of our clients that go through this program are amazed that they simply are not crazing sugar anymore, especially in the evenings.
2. The omega-3:6 balance
Both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are necessary. Omega-6 causes inflammation and omega-3 decreases inflammation. We need them both in equal amounts so they can work together in our bodies, but our modern diet has forced as much as 40 times more omega-6 into our bodies than omega-3!
A balanced omega-3:6 ratio minimizes the inflammatory response your body has to toxins.
“Inflammation triggered by oxidative stress is the cause of much, perhaps even most, chronic human disease including human aging … This is especially relevant to the many pervasive chronic diseases that are still responsible for so much human suffering.”
International Journal of Inflammation, 2011. Fredric J. Pashkow, John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawai‘I
Certain foods, chemicals, and even the air you breathe place a stress on your body (toxins). Most health programs are built around minimizing these toxins with diet and lifestyle changes. This is important, but getting your omega-3:6 balance closer to 1:1 is the most important change you can make as it will minimize the effect of these stressors. This doesn’t mean you ignore toxins, but you can’t afford to overlook minimizing your body’s response to toxins.
The story – How our diet has changed…
Before industrialization we ate omega-6 and omega-3 fats in a ratio of roughly 1:1. 1935 in the USA, the ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids had already moved towards 8:1. This ratio increased to 10-12:1 in 1985. Today, it has skyrocketed up to an average of 25:1 in the USA. Here in Sweden the process has not gone as fast, with our average ratio being around 12:1.
What broke our omega-3:6 balance?
We eat less wild caught oily fish (the only significant source of the omega-3’s) and more plant oils, which are high in omega-6. Plant oils such as safflower, sunflower, soy, and corn oil are used in cooking and in processed foods because… they are cheap!
But it’s not just what we eat… most animals are now fed with grain-based diets, so now even our meat is high in omega-6. The same is true for chicken, eggs, and farm-raised fish. Fully grass-fed animals have a better omega-3:6 balance, but can be hard to find.
Can we fix our omega-3:6 balance?
Yes! And quite quickly. Simple changes make a huge difference!
3. Less stress.
Once we have dealt with sugar, one of the major stressors, the omega-3:6 key, which regulates our body’s response to them; we now have one step left to go. Stress. Stress is one area that if we don’t learn to get control over it, we never will be truly well, even if we eat perfectly.
Managing stress doesn’t have to be difficult either. The Balance36 program will not only give you simple practical suggestions on how you can break the stress cycle and take back control, but even help you make simple diet changes to fight back on stress and truly be able to REST.
“oxidative stress can lead to chronic inflammation, which in turn could mediate most chronic diseases including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular, neurological and pulmonary diseases.” Free Radic Biol Med. 2010. Simone Reuter, et al. The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center

Wellness
Beneath the Layers

In the beginning of the journey of work clients and I venture on, the surface issues and discussions are initially “just surface.”
In fitness, when there’s a movement a client cannot perform after much practice and polishing, the first thought is that they just can’t do it. Soon enough, we discover their central nervous system has protected their body from moving in that specific manner, because there is a limiting belief and limiting decision their central nervous system and their unconscious mind have a greed upon. And it has defined itself as “safety.”
When clients want to lose weight, we later on discover the emotional un-resolve rooted in eating patterns inhibiting them from their success of doing so. Sometimes, more often than others, there’s systematic problems inhibiting digestion promoting bloating, infections wreaking havoc, and the list goes on.
Mental blocks become obvious as we begin to peel away the layers. We eventually become acquainted that the behavioral “issues” desired to be changed, are very obvious physical symptoms or manifestations breeding beneath deeper layers.
There’s a lot of “stuff” we stuff. That “stuff” will introduce itself to you and the world around you, eventually. Self preservation can feel “safe” and comfortable. But it is unsustainable. Eventually the totality of us, will beg to be resolved. Lean in listen and learn. Eventually you will heal.
“We will project that which is unconscious in the most obvious of ways in order to become consciously aware which is most unconscious so we can gain the learning necessary to get results.”- Nathan Rossi
